Garage extension progress

Time I think to do a blog that is nothing to do with Multiply closing and where are we all going etc, etc.  That is getting kind of boring!

So I thought I would tell you about the garage extension progress.  As you know it has been much slower than we had hoped, due to the weather.  Rain and more rain.  The last few weeks we have had spells of fair weather interspersed by rain. Today is hot but the sun is fighting with the clouds and not always winning. I am just grateful that it isn’t raining.

Anyway, progress is being made. He finally got all the hardcore level and then it was covered with a large water proof membrane...plastic sheet to you and me! That took some getting in place! After that it was filled with big polystyrene sheets and then wire mesh.

The concrete was piped in last Saturday.  Sam came to give Simon a hand to spread it out and tamp it down.  Simon had made a big wooden bar for tamping.  The concrete comes out pretty fast once it starts coming through and a couple of times they were knee deep!  It was hard work getting it all level.
Once it was, silly me thought that we could go out for the day.  NOOOO..... it has to be sprayed with water to prevent it drying out too quickly which apparently causes cracks!!  We did manage to have lunch out at a local pub.

On Thursday this week my sister and brother in law came and Pete worked on it with Simon.  They made a lot of progress.  Putting in some panels at the far end as a retainer and then getting 7 wall panels screwed into place.  There are a lot more to go!  The back wall will remain in place until the end when it will be taken out and put in on the new end if that makes sense.  My sister and I had a lovely time catching up on stuff. Before they went home we all went for a meal at a pub in a neighbouring village that Simon and I quite like.

Sam popped in this morning with the girls and gave Simon a hand to move a few more panels.  Unfortunately they are extremely heavy so there is no way at all that I can help to lift them and then carry them half way across the garden.

Simon has now gone to his barn to make some wooden "wedges" which he needs for the bolts to go through, or something like that, not sure really!

I have been enjoying the sun while it lasts. It is presently quite overcast, hence I am now indoors and on the computer. Tomorrow I am hoping for a day out. There is a large Craft Festival at Donnington Park which is about an hour and a half drive from here. It isn't really Simon’s thing but hopefully he will be happy to go since it will keep me happy!

A late night post

Well it is a quarter to one in the morning and as I am not yet sleepy  I have been sorting some stuff out here in Blogland. I am pretty stunned that more or less everyone has already jumped ship at Multiply.  It seems premature to me.  We could have continued until December which is months away yet.

Sadly everyone seems to have gone to different places unlike when 360 went down and we all followed each other to Multiply.  I have pretty much decided that I shall set up shop both here and on Blogster too. I have friends in both places. I also have Mickey, Jenny and Sue who have gone to Ipernity. I just hope that I can stay in contact with them via email.  I cannot possibly post in all these different places.  2 is enough.

I have set up RSS feeds for them but that only allows me to read not to comment.  I'm not sure either that I will be able to keep up with the feed.  My google reader is already stuffed with things that I haven't read yet.
I am finding that I have very little time right now.  It is still school holidays here which means Simon is at home. We have been busy doing stuff here.  Him the garage extension and me lots of sewing projects.  In between times I have been busy moving all my old posts over here to my other Blogger blog " Jillys blog".  There is a link to it somewhere here!

We have also had several days out, a few birthdays and a couple of picnics.  I have lots of photos which I will post soon when I can get my head around how that all works here.

OK,  going to read now.  Night, night, don't let the bed bugs bite!

Details posted on Multiply

Well it seems that most of my friends have already left for pastures new.  I am very sad that it seems no one is staying until the end.

I have been really busy and am currently moving stuff over to an old Blogger site.  I have created a new blog there, "Don't worry be happy" which I will probably be using.  I am also using one at Blogster as well so will be in 2 places.  Actually, 3 places as I shall continue to post at Multiply until the end.

This where you can find me:

Blogger: http://pinkduchessofmorton.blogspot.co.uk/

Blogster: http://www.blogster.com/mortonjilly

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gillian.glennsansum

Personal email: jill.sansum@btinternet.com

I have also opened an account at Ipernity as a few of you have gone there.  It looks ok but I am happy, I think, with Blogger and Blogster.  If you do want to look me up there:
http://www.ipernity.com/home/jill.sansum

Well, I think that should allow you to find me!  Can I ask that you either PM me here or send me an email to my personal address with the details of where you are going.

As I said I shall continue to post duplicates here until the end.  It is inevitable I guess that some of us will lose contact.  I do know that some of you are going to give up the blogging habit.

I have enjoyed my time here at Multiply and have made many good friends but life moves on.  Change is a good thing.  In a few months time no doubt we will all wonder what the fuss was about.

Have a good weekend.

Bedtime. - MortonJilly's Blog - Blogster

Bedtime. - MortonJilly's Blog - Blogster

It is nearly 1am in England so well past my bedtime.  I just wanted to do one last thing which is to see if I can add a picture to my blog post....
Well what do you know.... I can!  Night, night, don't let the bedbugs bite!

First post - MortonJilly's Blog - Blogster

First post - MortonJilly's Blog - Blogster

Ok, so I guess I should do a first post here.  It will be short and sweet as it is 1am here in England.
I am a Multiply refugee.  Since the official announcement of Multiply kicking us out only came 2 days ago, I haven't had  much time to look for a new home.  I did begin yesterday to move some stuff over to Blogger where I have an old account.  Blogger is quite good but doesn't seem to offer the required tools to really build a community.
I arrived here after some friends reported that it was a good place. The little that I have seen so far does look good and it feels like there is a nice, positive atmosphere here.
However, some friends are reporting that they keep losing blogs and getting locked out of their accounts because of spam issues.  Not good at all.
I shall explore a bit more and see what happens.
I may end up here or I may not!

The fat lady hasn't sung yet

I am peeking over the parapet.... yep, it looks safe enough.  Things seem to have calmed down some what.  From browsing around it seems that people have accepted  the situation, quited the moaning and are now putting their energy into finding a new home.  That's good.

However it seems that a lot of people have already jumped ship.  Seems premature to me but hey that is not up to me.  Each to their own.  As far as I am concerned the fat lady hasn't sung yet, I know cos I am the fat lady!  I shall keep going here until the end.  We do have until December after all and that is months away.

Like most of you, I have begun the search for a new place to call home.  I thought that was going to be Blogger.  I have an old account there and I am currently moving my posts. However, I never really did get on with Blogger hence the move to Multiply.  I don't like it's lack of an inbox and the lack of community.

A Multiply friend of mine, Ingi, suggested that I look at Blogster.  I did. I like it.  There are a lot of Multiply refugees there and in fact SeaNymph has set up a group there with lots of tutorials.  It has all of the same functionality of Multiply, an inbox, photo albums, etc. It also has a really nice feel about it and is very friendly.  In just a couple of days I have had many welcomes and many offers of help to find my way around.  Seems the natives are a great bunch.

It is early days and as always there is a learning curve and I am sure there may be glitches along the way.   A couple of Ex Multipliers have hit problems but they have been sorted very efficiently and quickly.  I think this may be home for me.  If you haven't tried it, I would urge you to give it a shot. It is the most like Multiply that I have found and I have tried a lot.

I know some of you have already gone to Blogger and some to Live Journal.  I don't want to lose contact so if you have found a new home can you please PM me with your new details.  I am afraid that I am losing track of all the info posted in blogs.

It is inevitable that things will change.  I can't keep up with half a dozen different blog spaces.  I have enough trouble with one!  For those that wish to stay in touch these are my details:

Primary email: jill.sansum@btinternet.com

Primary blog: http://www.blogster.com/mortonjilly/  My user name is Mortonjilly.  My posts are open right now but will be locked down later on.

Secondary blog for back up  purposes: http://pinkduchessofmorton.blogspot.co.uk

Facebook: My user name is Gillian Glennsansum  search for me and I will add you.  I don't do a lot on facebook except a couple of games.

I shall continue posting here until December and hope that most of you will too.

So I lied

Yes, I know I said I wasn't going to mention this again but what the heck, I changed my mind.  I want to say something else!

Firstly, yes I am aware that not everyone is whinging but a lot are.  If you aren't one of them well that's great.

Secondly, some of you have pointed out that I have locked Blogger down so tight you can't get access!  LOL.  I wanted to stop some people getting in.  I will change that tomorrow, too busy today to get round to it.  Take another look tomorrow.

Thirdly, an analogy..........

When you purchase your home, you own it. It is yours and cannot be taken away.  However if you rent your home the situation is different.  You pay for the privilege of residing there.  You do not own it and it is not yours.

Your land lord can take it from you at any time.  For example if he decides to sell then you are served notice and you have to find a new place to live.

This is what has happened with Multiply.  We didn't own it, we rented a tiny piece in which to reside.  Now  we have been served notice.  I had a premium account so I paid for my little piece.  My choice.

Many people stayed with the standard membership which of course was free. Were you ever grateful for the free home you were given? Did you ever say thank you?  No thought not.  Funny how so many have suddenly found their voices.

That's my final word on this.  No, really it is!
